We at VINTUS were proud to host Philippe Guigal at the start of May to officially launch La Reynarde, a once in a generation addition to the highly lauded LaLa’s of E. Guigal. Announced two years ago, the 2022 vintage marks the official first release of this Côte-Rôtie vineyard, joining the existing lineup of La Mouline, La Turque, and La Landonne. Philippe began preparing the La Reynarde site in 2010 when his twin sons were born, carrying on the precedent set from La Turque by his father, Marcel, when he was born. The wine already shows an astounding amount of depth and focus, owing to uniquely steep exposures and high elevations in the central portion of the Côte Brune.
To properly celebrate this unique occasion, Philippe hosted a series of events in New York, Boston, Dallas, and Houston to introduce La Reynarde to these influential markets. The well attended events in each city drew sommeliers and retailers to hear Philippe discuss the latest from the Rhône Valley and E. Guigal, including La Dorianne of Condrieu, Château de Nalys in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and small production labels in St. Joseph and Hermitage, before revealing the full lineup of 2022 LaLa’s. The side-by-side of these historic wines provided a clear picture of terroir, with La Reynarde already showing a remarkable character and strong sense of place to sit alongside it’s long-loved sister sites.
