For Wine Enthusiast, Tom R. Capo names Far Mountain Montecillo Cabernet Sauvignon one of the best Sonoma wines to drink right now. The wine comes from Moon Mountain, a small, high-elevation AVA on the western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains bordering Napa, a district known for “creating wines of substance, nuance, and character.” Capo praises Sonoma, and Moon Mountain more specifically, for making some of the world’s best Cabs today. “Once thought of as Napa’s little cousin,” he writes, “Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon is becoming a major player globally, with top examples rivaling the great wines of the world.”
Far Mountain Montecillo Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 earned 96 points from Wine Enthusiast. Capo calls it a “Cabernet from a historic high elevation vineyard” with a palate “layered with flavors of dusty cherry, cocoa powder, spiced plum compote, fresh flowers, and graphite that linger on and on and on.”
