E. Guigal Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2015

Guigal produces an intensely concentrated, inviting and complex Châteauneuf-du-Pape that is almost unique to the region today. Their passion for Châteauneuf, the leading appellation of the Southern Rhône, runs as deeply as that for their home sites in the Northern Rhône. The combination of working with top fruit that has perfect ripeness, along with their extraordinary patience in the cellar, results in rich and full, yet savory, spicy, seamless and balanced wines. Wines to enjoy immediately but capable of aging, and, above all, wines that leave you wanting more.

Sandrone Le Vigne Barolo Sibi et Paucis 2008

Each year, the winery chooses to put aside a small part of their production of the wines based in Nebbiolo. The winery holds these in their library under optimal conditions for resting, refining and the slow march toward maturity. The seal on the labels identifies these specific bottles and their path which began under the ground in their cellars.

Barolo Le Vigne is often a dark and impenetrable wine in its youth. With proper cellaring, this wine reveals more classic Barolo aspects of black cherries, tar, violets and roses. This wine can outlive the ALESTE/Cannubi Boschis bottling in great years: Le Vigne shows more tannins than its brother and possesses amazing freshness and length.

Château de Nalys Saintes Pierres de Nalys Blanc Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2017

Translated as “holy stones”, a play on the soils and history of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the second white wine to Château de Nalys has a character all its own, with a strongly different varietal and plot composition, and like its red Saintes Pierres counterpart, a fermentation, and aging geared towards emphasizing freshness. The hallmark seamlessness of Guigal’s white wines is especially evident in this wine, which is unlike any Châteauneuf white we have experienced in its grace and lift. The beautifully balanced freshness and fleshiness, prominent floral and citrus notes, a complete wine. Guigal is today the single most important producer by value and volume of white wine in the Rhône, with 25% of their production dedicated to whites. Nalys is 18% planted to whites, very high for the area, and in fact at one point it is believed the estate produced the majority of the entire appellation’s white wine production.

Masciarelli Villa Gemma Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo 2020

Perhaps the finest rosé production area in Italy, and one of the few appellations dedicated only to rosé, Cerasuolo has a long history of producing serious rosé, and showcasing how well the Montepulciano grape is adapted to rosé. Masciarelli first produced this wine in 1986, only 5 years after the winery was founded. With deep fruit and structure but no shortage of pleasure, it is a rosé you can take to the dinner table.

Masciarelli Villa Gemma Colline Teatine Bianco 2020

While the Villa Gemma Montepulciano was the wine that announced Abruzzo to the world, the Bianco, created just a year later, further defined what the region and grapes of Abruzzo could produce. This wine, first released in 1985, speaks to the white grape varieties specific to the region and has become on of the most exciting wines produced at the estate

Masciarelli Villa Gemma Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva 2012

Started in Gianni Masciarelli’s grandfather’s basement, Villa Gemma is the wine that announced Abruzzo to the world, showcasing what the region and grapes of Abruzzo could produce. Villa Gemma Montepulciano Riserva is the only Italian wine with 14 consecutive Tre Bicchieri awards and, more importantly, was the wine that established Abruzzo as capable of making truly distinct, extraordinary wines. Villa Gemma Montepulciano Riserva is a powerfully – almost undeniably – intense wine of character and complexity, with deep fruit and earthy, spicy secondary characteristics that could only come from the Montepulciano grape in Abruzzo

Poggio al Tufo Vermentino 2018

This single-vineyard Vermentino exhibits all of the characteristics for which Tuscan Vermentino is renowned, in particular its mineral notes, a result of the volcanic soil on which the vineyards lie. This bright, crisp wine has both wonderful freshness as well as the balanced quality typical of the varietal.

Trediberri Barolo 2017

Like all wines from Trediberri, the Barolo possesses a thorough line of elegance and purity. Notable for its drinkability and finesse, even at a young age, there is no doubt that this wine will develop gracefully over the years. Trediberri aims for a “weightless” power to the wine, which is meant to typify the best of La Morra.

Trediberri Barolo Berri 2019

Notable for its drinkability and finesse, even at a young age, there is no doubt that this wine will develop gracefully over the years. Trediberri aims for a “weightless” power to the wine, which is meant to typify the best of La Morra. Starting with the 2019 vintage, 96% of fruit comes from their Berri vineyards, with the remainder from Torriglione, the North East facing hill immediately outside their cellar that completes the Rocche dell’Annunziata amphitheater. As such, the Trediberri team decided to label their flagship Barolo as Barolo Berri.

Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot 74

Affectionately known as “OVR,” Marietta’s Old Vine Red is a proprietary red wine made to replicate the field blends of the old vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. A groundbreaking combination of varietals and multiple vintages first produced in 1982, this wine has blazed the path for red blends for decades. With an historic underground following, it is one of the longest lasting and best known red blends produced today. Predominantly comprised of fresh, young Zinfandel, OVR gets its backbone from Petite Sirah with about three years of age in neutral barrel, and its savory component from Syrah with about two years of age in neutral barrel. Occasionally, other varieties like Merlot, Barbera, Carignan, or Grenache will be blended in to complement the other elements. The goal is always to create an enjoyable table wine made with integrity that combines pure fruit, a supple mouth feel and a rich, solid structure.

Luce Lucente 2019

Lucente is the second wine of Luce, a wine with contemporary style, immediate and great pleasure, and like its elder sibling, an authentic interpretation of Montalcino and the Luce estate.

After the first strict selection of the very best grapes for Luce, the next selection is used for Lucente and is often coming from the younger vineyards planted in the Luce estate. Lucente represents a more approachable expression of the estate’s unique terroir.

Trediberri Barolo Rocche Dell’Annunziata 2017

Working with just over three acres of vines in this famed vineyard, Rocche Dell’Annunziata is not just home for Trediberri, but also its heart. To hear winemaker Nicola Oberto speak passionately of this vineyard is to hear him discuss a lifelong love affair. He was literally born in front of the vineyard, with memories of kicking a soccer ball around the muddy vines at four years old. Like any wine of this stature, this Barolo will age for decades, but unlike many of its peers, it delivers immediate pleasure too.
