Brander Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2021

This is the wine that made Brander Vineyards – a trendsetting Sauvignon Blanc that came to define a region. Made with a majority of estate fruit, the clean and crisp style that’s beloved by so many was crafted by large diurnal shifts and unfussy stainless-steel aging. The results have been consistently lauded since their first vintage in 1977, with the label quickly becoming synonymous with both Brander and the Los Olivos District.

Brander Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Brander takes immense pride in their Bordeaux varietal plantings – perhaps none more-so than their Cabernet Sauvignon. Composed mostly of estate fruit, the wine is destemmed and fermented in large vats before aging for 15 months in 25% new French oak. The straightforward style yields a California Cabernet of subtlety and nuance, with an ethereal old-world soul behind plush, ruby tinged fruit and silky tannins.

Force Majeure Red Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Force Majeure’s Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful but elegant, full-bodied wine that is grown primarily along the southwest ridge of their estate vineyard, in soils that are deep and loamy but contain many small rocks of fractured basalt, concreted ash and granite from Missoula flood erratics. Coming from 14 year old vines that produce small berries with lots of power and concentration. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Force Majeure Red Mountain Estate Épinette Blend 2017

Épinette is a Right-bank Bordeaux-inspired blend, and was named after an avenue in Libourne that leads to Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, the home of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Épinette is also the name of a musical instrument akin to a piano, as well as a word for pine tree, which is a fitting nod to Washington state. The wine itself is a blend of primarily Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, proportions of which change depending on the vintage.

Force Majeure Parabellum Coulée 2019

Made utilizing meticulously farmed grapes from the estate vineyards on Red Mountain and in the Walla Walla Valley, these wines receive the same care and attention in both winemaking and viticulture as the upper-tier Force Majeure wines. The goal with Parabellum is to produce beautiful and approachable wines that are reflective of their varieties and terroir, without constraints on blending. Parabellum provides an opportunity to savor an authentic wine of distinction at a great value.

Famille Bruno Lafon Le Fruit Défendu Rouge 2020

“Vine growing and wine are in my blood. With my native Burgundian background, Magellan was an opportunity to write my own story. The Languedoc offers new terroirs, grape varieties and challenges. Now after 20 years of living the land, I relish each new vintage and in doing so have been privileged to now make wines that I enjoy, mirroring both my culture and second home.” – Bruno Lafon

The wine’s name, Le Fruit Défendu, translates to “The Forbidden Fruit” in French, alluding to both the Story of Creation and the new “Garden of Eden”. The status of organic products and eco-friendly wines have both been categorized at times as being only for the hobbyist. However, like Eve in the Garden, once tasted, a new empowerment is realized.

Le Fruit Défendu Rouge expresses a complex terroir with unfussy winemaking, provoking the full ripe flavors from Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah with levity and grace. The wine shows punchy cherry and blueberry notes, with a lush and immediate profile. The perfect complement to all grilled foods as well as game birds such as roast guinea fowl.
