St. Supéry
Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Napa Valley
A blend of their Dollarhide and Rutherford Estate Vineyards, St. Supéry’s Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an impressively balanced wine of mountainous and valley fruit. The blend is gently melded with new oak for a robust yet measured style, inspired by Bordeaux.
Vineyard
The Dollarhide Vineyard is often referred to as a “valley within a valley”, featuring elevations ranging from 600 to 1,100 feet above sea level, seven different soil series, 13 soil variations and unique microclimates.
The Rutherford Estate vineyard surrounds the St Supéry winery on the eastern side of Highway 29, covering just over 50 acres. Located in the heart of Rutherford, the famed “dusty” style of the region permeates the wines with a distinctive character.
Winemaking
Cool morning pick times and a gentle extraction to maintain delicate aromatics. Aged for 20 months in 22% new French oak.
Vintage
A rainy winter and spring provided plenty of water for vines to drink from. Though July was warm, August through September proved to be mild and ideal to finish the season.
Tasting Note
Cassis, black plum and dark raspberry aromas combine with anise and subtle vanilla.
