Napa Valley

Download

Sourced exclusively from Darioush’s estate vineyards perched atop Mount Veeder and Atlas Peak, the unique rocky soils and cool, marine-influenced climate provide the perfect climate for the development of Cabernet Franc’s inherently earthbound, spice and black fruit flavors. Benefiting from exceptional sun exposure, the reustling wine is distinctly of Mount Veeder origins: a pure, singular expression of a classic Bordeaux variety.

Vineyard

The Darioush estate vineyards in Mount Veeder and Atlas peak benefit from the area’s unique rocky, high-elevation vineyards that benefit from the unique combination of a cool, marine-influenced climate that receives exceptional sun exposure for the excellent ripening and concentration while retaining acidity.

Winemaking

Fruit is hand harvested into small, 28lb baskets. Clusters and berries are hand-sorted before and after the de-stemming processes before fermentation in traditional, closed top fermenters. A cold soak begins for 4 days, followed by gentle pump overs for optimal color and tannin management. After fermentation, the wine is aged 22 months in a combination of 70% new French oak barrels.

Tasting Note

“With impeccable stature, depth and age-worthiness, the 2018 Signature Cabernet Franc is a textbook example of the variety with elegant blueberry and black currant fruit in addition to notions of savory herbs, loam, lead pencil, and saddle leather. The tannins are ripe and fine-grained, indicative of the wines Mount Veeder origins. An experience that is slow and memorable, Cabernet Franc’s density and richness give light to secondary flavors that rise and expand across the long, persistent finish.” – Winemaker, Hope Goldie
