Western Cape
Bruce believes that his Pinotage plots represent the best in South Africa – and, as South Africa grows the best Pinotage in the world…you get the idea. Blending with Malbec to highlight the juicy joy of Pinotage, Bruce Jack’s red is a fragrant, surprisingly refined wine, sourced from the best wine selections at his disposal. Lush, bristling strawberry and red currant mingle with savory notes of leather and smoke.
Vineyard
Bruce Jack Wines sources from several of the most prestigious location across the Western Cape, with their base being in the heart of the South African wine world: Bredekloof. The vineyards in the valley of Bredekloof benefit from mountains providing morning shade and a moderate amount of rainfall, providing fresh fruit quality and bright acidity. With access to such a wide range of grapes, Bruce is able to cherry pick the best of the bunch for his eponymous label.
Winemaking
Grapes are harvested early in the day. They are then crushed, destemmed, and fermented on the skin. Open and closed pump overs are given for colour extract. From there the juice is fermented, blended, stabilized and filtered.
Vintage
A steady year, with very welcome rain breaking several years of severe drought. Yields were diminished generally, resulting in wines with focus and concentration.
Tasting Note
