For Food & Wine Magazine’s November issue, Executive Wine Editor Ray Isle includes Sandrone’s “Valmaggiore” Nebbiolo d’Alba 2023 in a round up of high quality Langhe Nebbiolo. As Isle points out, these wines are excellent for “those seeking an entryway into the world of Nebbiolo,” allowing one to sample the “power and elegance” that echoes Barolo and Barbaresco in character but for a more accessible price.
He describes the 2023 Valmaggiore as having “gorgeous rose-petal and raspberry aromas,” and notes that top flight Nebbiolos like these can even age impressively, sharing that he recently tasted the 2010 and it was “drinking spectacularly well.”
