Wine critic Owen Bargreen, a former editor at world-recognized wine publications Vinous and Decanter, dives into the latest releases from Champagne Bollinger in his blog, tracing the house’s roots back to its 1829 founding in Aÿ by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Renaudin, and Jacques Bollinger, a family still at the helm today.
Bargreen is especially taken with the new Champagne Bollinger PN AYC21, saying he’s “enamored by the new Champagne Bollinger PN AYC21… which is gorgeous, round and generous.” The wine is built on a 2021 base blended with 51 percent reserve wines from vintages including 2012, 2013, and 2014, sourced primarily from Aÿ with additional parcels from Tauxières and Mutigny. Bargreen scores it 96 points, describing pretty guava and red cherry fruit layered with orange blossom, a heady, decadent palate lifted by mineral-driven reserve vintages, and a refined mousse he says is drinking brilliantly now with another 15 years of aging ahead.
