San Francisco Week: Wine Tasting at Award-Winning Chateau Montelena

Chateau Montelena has been featured in a broadcast segment on regional Hawaii-based station Khon2 titled, “San Francisco Week: Wine Tasting at Award-Winning Chateau Montelena.” The feature highlights a wine tasting at Chateau Montelena as part of San Francisco Week as well as background on the winery. The reporters speak with Sheri Bowen, Hospitality and Retail Manager for the winery, who adds “We create wines that don’t follow the trend of typical California wines. We create our wines in old world style with new world fruit and the quality is always consistent. Chateau Montelena wines also truly stand the test of time and have incredible aging potential.” Bowen notes that most people are familiar with the winery’s Chardonnay, largely because of The Judgment of Paris, and their flagship Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. And as they say, the rest is history.

In 1976 Chateau Montelena put California at the forefront of the wine world. That year a who's-who of the French wine establishment gathered in Paris for a blind tasting of French and American wines. When the scores were tallied, the top-ranking white wine was Chateau Montelena's 1973 Chardonnay. Montelena today continues to be a quality benchmark in Napa Valley, producing some of the finest Cabernet and Chardonnay in California.
